This was shot in a little pub in Annapolis, called Stan & Joe’s. On Sunday evenings they used to run a “Blues Jam” which was very well attended. Lighting conditions were tough as the band set up in a window and was backlit from the street lights and bar signs from outside. There was no stage lighting to speak of. It was so dark that the only way to focus was to pre focus on the mic before the lights went down. This image was shot on my old Canon AE-1 Program using a 50 mm lens at f1.4 at about 1/30th of a second. It was shot with Kodak TMax 3200 speed film. The image was exhibited around 2009 at the Greenbelt Aquatic Center as part of a show called “In the Footsteps of the WPA”
